"Dairy" language and Kosher as an Art Form
Here at The R.L.S. Tea Room absolutely no dairy ingredients are used,
Terms such as "cream" and "butter" reflect the concept of embracing language that which is in sympathy with what is familiar.
Only the finest and most healthful non-dairy ingredients that have met seriously discriminating palates are presented to all our guests; the wide diversity of fares born from the Diaspora, and our knowledge base and personal travels we draw upon to make dining at The R.L.S. Tea Room a dynamic visual and temporal culinary art form.
The spiritual aspects of kashrut being born from laws pertaining to kindness to animals merged with the culinary skills of our ancestors throughout the ages embrace with familiarity of terms all guests to the tearoom.
Thus, the "cream" in the clotted cream and scones is kosher, non-dairy and is made of the finest, high-end and most "cream" tasting ingredients in the kosher kitchen.
THERE IS NO 'CREAM' IN THE ICE CREAM, NO 'BUTTER' IN THE SCONES, THERE IS ONLY LOVE & ART AND AN ADHERENCE TO THE SPIRITUAL NATURE OF OUR INHERITANCE. -RL
The Kitchen is Kosher Self-Certified Fleishig
Rabbi Rita Leonard, Independent- was ordained in 1997 and has kept a kosher kitchen throughout her life, as we;; she kashered many kitchens in diverse communities across the country.
As a child Rabbi Leonard was raised in an Orthodox kosher home with her grandparents, her knowledge base is extensive regarding the practical nature of kashrut, keeping a kosher home and the spiritual aspects of keeping Kosher.
Healthful eating is part of her concept of kosher, a stong part and eating in a spiritually resonant place is paramount to her vision of Kosher as an Art Form.
The teas the Rabbi masters are all don in a kosher kitchen by her own hands.
The R.L.S. Tea Room and is closed on Shabbat, that is from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday.
Upon request those wishing only jarred foods from kosher sources will be served on paperware and given plastic, though it is preferred those visiting are comfortable with the kashrut observed by the Rabbi.
