The Robert Louis Stevenson Tea Room

Dr. Kinghorn was the only other person to have slept in the room at the cottage where R.L.S. had since the author's departure  in 1888.  The doctor rented the room when but a young man (on his first visit to Saranac Lake). Smitten by the beauty, majesty and restorative nature of the Adirondacks the doctor replicated his home in Canada by renovations to the Victorian original architecture.  Here he devoted his life to research, healing and the spirit of R.L.S.; and, after the elders of the Society were gone he alone was left with the daunting responsibility of keeping the Shrine alive.  He chose John Delahant to be the resident curator for  he was astonished by Delahant's knowledge and true love of Stevenson which was clearly evident.

Today, there is nothing more rewarding then learning about R.L.S. from the heir of this inheritance. Be sure to visit Mike when you are in Saranac Lake, he is the most richly versed human alive in rare details which are born of one who has been schooled by experience and stories 'round the table' passed from parent to child... of Stevenson history. Mike lives, breathes and creates all things Stevensonian at 44 Stevenson Lane in Saranac Lake. The cottage is but 3 minutes by foot up the hill from the R.L.S. Tea Room.
